THE IMPACT OF GIG ECONOMY ON HIRING TRENDS AMONG EMPLOYERS AND JOB SEEKERS IN INDIA
Résumé fourni par la source
The gig economy is rapidly becoming a game-changing phenomenon in the Indian employment landscape, significantly redefining and restructuring the conventional job frameworks that once dominated the workforce. This study examines the impact of gig work on hiring trends, workforce management, and job opportunities for both employers and job seekers in India. With the rapid adoption of digital platforms such as Uber, Zomato, and Upwork, gig work has become an integral part of various industries, offering flexibility, cost efficiency, and access to a diverse talent pool. However, it also brings forth critical concerns like employment instability, absence of social benefits, and ambiguous regulatory frameworks, posing complex hurdles for both workers and policymakers. This research explores key hiring practices in the gig economy, highlighting the increasing preference for on-demand recruitment, skill-based selection, and remote work opportunities. Employers leverage gig workers to optimize costs and scale their workforce dynamically, while job seekers benefit from flexible work arrangements and additional income sources. The study also analyzes factors influencing the adoption of gig work, including technological advancements, economic conditions, workforce preferences, and evolving labor laws. Additionally, the study delves into the socio-economic implications of the gig economy on different demographics, such as young professionals, women, and rural workers, who increasingly rely on gig work for financial independence
