Résumé fourni par la source

The development of drug delivery technology has benefited greatly from polymers, as they allow the regulated release of medicinal substances. A lot of polymers are utilized in the delivery of medicines because of their surface and bulk characteristics. Small peptides to monoclonal antibodies are examples of biologics that are proteinaceous in composition. Biodegradable and bioerodible polymers are a crucial class of materials for medication delivery. The advantages of using biopolymers as edible films and coatings in the food sector have given rise to applications for natural drug encapsulation materials. The research is being driven toward the development of less invasive or noninvasive delivery technologies to convert biologics into feasible non-parenteral medicines to uplift the use of biologics content in authorized treatments. Such systemic delivery systems are capable of overcoming obstacles to stability, bioavailability, efficacy, safety, and eventually an improvement in the pharmacological profile. The ability to create such delivery systems is made possible by polymers. This chapter focuses on the use of biopolymers to create new medication delivery systems and also a few insights into the difficulties and constraints in combining polymer-derived materials with product delivery optimization metabolic characteristics that can be leveraged to create novel applications.
