The work done in this literature explores the transformative impact of the things connected to internet (IoT) technology on transportation systems. From travelling from place to place on horses and camels, civilisation has gone a long way. The world is moving towards the next phase of mobility, known as smart transport, a big transformation to the smart world commutation systems through advanced disruptive technologies. By integrating IoT into various aspects of transportation, we can achieve significant improvements in safety, efficiency, and convenience. This paper concentrates on the applications in today's scenario of IoT in transport department, the challenges faced in implementation, and potential developments in the coming time. A range of technologies are used by intelligent transportation systems (ITS) to enable safety and security. Smart transport for smart city makes use of cutting-edge technology to improve accessibility, affordability for both the city and the person, and safety while commuting inside a metropolis. Examine the improvements in safety, efficiency, and convenience brought about by IoT. Identification of cons faced while using IoT in transportation. By addressing the practical implementation and outcomes of IoT solutions in transportation, the research tells us how IoT is transforming transportation systems and what the future holds for this rapidly evolving field.
