The Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus), classified as critically endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, continues to face growing threats from human activities that disrupt marine ecosystems.Adolescents are a key demographic for fostering long-term environmental awareness, as they are in a formative stage of developing values and behaviors.Interactive experiences, integral to teenagers' daily lives, hold the potential to promote social and environmental awareness.Among these, interactive visual novels provide an innovative medium to spark teens' interest in marine conservation and connect with endangered species. However, this process is complex, integrating aesthetics, narrative conventions, game mechanics, and content knowledge to engage and educate teenagers effectively. In this article, we contribute to this area of research by providing the design process and evaluation of SeaStory, an interactive visual narrative designed to promote teenagers' awareness about the Mediterranean monk seal.A study with fifteen participants using SeaStory revealed positive results on learning outcomes and emotional responses with the app, encouraging further exploration of interactive narratives to enhance adolescent environmental awareness and support conservation efforts.
