The impact of Family Cultural Capital on Digital Literacy among secondary school students: Chain Mediation based on Problem-Solving Ability and Learning Anxiety

This study examines the influence of family cultural capital on the digital literacy of secondary school students and analyses the chain mediating role of problem-solving ability and learning anxiety in this relationship based on stimulus-organism-response theory. Through Bootstrapping chain mediation analyses of survey data from 620 secondary school students in Hubei Province, the results show that family cultural capital significantly affects students' digital literacy through the chain mediation of problem-solving ability and learning anxiety. Specifically, family cultural capital not only directly promotes students' digital literacy, but also indirectly enhances students' digital competence through enhancing problem-solving ability and reducing learning anxiety. These findings provide important insights for educational policy making and digital citizenship development, suggesting that policymakers should pay attention to the unequal distribution of family cultural capital and promote students' digital literacy development through home-school cooperation and mental health support programmes. The study also highlights the importance of incorporating problem-solving training and anxiety management in digital literacy education to develop well-rounded digital citizens who are attuned to the needs of the digital age.
