Livestock characterization based on health, structural and management variables in three regions of the state of Veracruz, Mexico
Résumé fourni par la source
The use and adoption of new technologies is an important feature of the agricultural development process, but its success depends on several factors. Therefore, the objective of this research was to compare the degree of use of transferred livestock technology among GGAVATT groups in three livestock-producing regions in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. A retrospective and descriptive study was conducted based on information collected from 839 livestock production units, considering 49 health, structural, and management variables. The variables were compared by region using chi-square tests. The results show that the use of technological practices varies across the three regions; in general, a lower use of technology was observed in the northern area than in the other regions (P<0.05). In addition to geographic, environmental, and production system differences, each region has a different structure and management practices that determine different technological preferences of farmers in the GGAVATT. This highlights the need for differentiated institutional strategies and approaches to promote technology implementation.
