Abstract This paper presents an in-situ measurement system for material thermal resistance based on the single-sided Transient Plane Source (TPS) method. The system features non-destructiveness, fast response, and high sensitivity, making it particularly suitable for in-situ thermal resistance measurement of complex structures or non-dismountable objects. The measurement principle of the transient plane source method is analyzed and clarified, a calculation model for thermal resistance based on transient temperature response is established, and an upper computer measurement and control software based on the LabVIEW platform is designed. The influences of probe heat capacity change, probe resistance change, and time delay on the measurement results during the experiment are effectively compensated. The thermal resistances of organic glass, polytetrafluoroethylene, marble, wood, stainless steel, iron, and insulating tiles are measured. Experiments show that the relative error of the system measurement is less than 2.33%, and the repeatability is better than 1%, verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the measurement system.
