• CO 2 -triggered modulation of macroscopic self-assembly behavior. • Under N 2 purging and heating at 80 °C, reversible self-assembly can be realized without replacing the solution • Quantitatively measured the relationship between the polymer structure and the ionic strength in the solution. CO 2 was strategically integrated into the electrostatic interaction driven macroscopic supramolecular assembly (MSA) as a dynamic regulator of electrostatic interactions between gels. The reversible assembly–disassembly transition was achieved through sequential CO 2 infusion and N 2 purging/heating, which highlighted the switchable and non-destructive nature of the process. This tunability originates from the CO 2 -responsive protonation–deprotonation equilibrium of dimethylethylamine (DMEA), which modulates the ionic strength of the medium and consequently shifts the electrostatic potential at the interface between gel and water. By quantitatively correlating gel surface charge density with DMEA concentration and employing a controllable centrifugal force method to measure electrostatic forces between gels, this study systematically elucidated how CO 2 -mediated ionic perturbations govern the hierarchical organization, packing density, and mechanical stability of the assembled network. These insights establish CO 2 as a versatile chemical stimulus for precision control of supramolecular architectures.
