Solar Energy and Thermal Management Systems
Résumé fourni par la source
The sustainability of solar systems is evidenced by their capacity to deliver electricity and heat for many purposes at minimal costs, alongside their contribution to climate change mitigation. Despite their advanced maturity, solar technologies require additional research to enhance their cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability, hence incentivizing energy users to prefer them over fossil fuel alternatives and facilitating their broader adoption. This chapter examines the primary characteristics, benefits, constraints, and issues associated with the deployment and sustainability of prominent solar technologies, solar energy can provide reliable and cost-efficient solutions to meet the world’s energy needs. An example of solar energy usage is solar-powered cooling systems. In the recent past, solar-powered air conditioners have become extremely popular. Solar collector-based solar cooling systems can help solve some problems related to fossil fuel overconsumption. Because solar energy is easily accessible and effortless to implement, the requirement for cooling and refrigeration powered by renewable sources has drastically increased. Liquid and solid desiccants, adsorption, ejectors, and photovoltaic-powered air conditioning systems are some of the methods used worldwide for solar-powered cooling systems. The economic aspects of solar-powered cooling, including solar coefficient of performance, capital costs, and life cycle costs, have all been compared to other systems to demonstrate the benefits of solar-powered cooling. This chapter examines the uses of solar-powered cooling systems, especially in air conditioning.
