Herpesviruses
Le résumé fourni par la source
Herpesviruses infect a variety of species, from mollusks to mammals. Herpesviruses characteristically produce latent infections in host species. In pigs, the most important herpesvirus is Aujeszky's disease virus (also called suid alphaherpesvirus 1 [SuAHV1] or pseudorabies virus [PRV]), a member of the subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae in the family Orthoherpesviridae . PRV pathogenesis ranges from severe neurological signs in piglets to mild respiratory disease in adults and abortion in pregnant animals. Other herpesviruses that naturally infect swine include suid betaherpesvirus 2 (also called porcine cytomegalovirus [PCMV]) in the subfamily Betaherpesvirinae , and suid gammaherpesviruses 3‒5 (also called porcine lymphotropic herpesviruses 1‒3 [PLHV1‒3]) and ovine gammaherpesvirus 2 (OvGHV2) in the subfamily Gammaherpesvirinae . PCMV causes inclusion body rhinitis and contributes to the porcine respiratory disease complex and reproductive disorders. Little is known regarding the pathogenic potential of PLHVs. Both PCMV and PLHVs have been a concern in the context of xenotransplantation using porcine-derived tissues and organs. OvGHV2 can cause porcine malignant catarrhal fever.
