Review of the effectiveness of heat pipe heat exchangers for waste heat recovery in HVAC systems
Résumé fourni par la source
Abstract Heat pipe is widely used technology in various applications including space technology, air conditioning, electronics, etc. Air conditioning and ventilation systems (HVAC) is recognized among many other systems as the highest energy consumers. The necessity of replacing the indoor air instead of circulating it especially after the COVID-19 pandemic put extra burden on this sector and furtherly increased their energy demand. Waste heat recovery is highlighted as an effective methodology to beneficiate the low temperature of the pumped-out air to moderate the temperature of fresh air. This brings the potentials of heat pipe heat exchangers into the picture and creates a need to develop this device for better performance in the HVAC application. Heat pipe heat exchanger HPHE offer significant potential for reducing the energy consumption of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning systems. The aim of this article is to provide a comprehensive review of the utilization of HPHE for HVAC application, as well as highlighting the effectiveness of this technology in terms of enhancing the thermal performance and energy recovery prospects. In addition, it covers a range of heat pipe designs including conventional, thermosyphon, pulsating, and other innovative configurations.
