When a high-speed train navigates an extra-long tunnel with a steep gradient, it generates intense tunnel pressure waves. These tunnel pressure waves are transmitted into the vehicle, causing interior pressure variations in the compartment, making passenger comfort challenging. In addition, it is costly to test the tunnel pressure waves on real routes. To address above issues, an iterative learning control (ILC) approach is employed to regulate the valve opening of a tunnel pressure wave simulation system for high-speed trains to further simulate tunnel pressure waves. The experimental results show that through continuous iteration of the ILC algorithm, these pressure waves in trains travelling via short tunnels, extra-long tunnels, and extra-long tunnels with large gradient can be effectively tracked in the simulation tank of the test bed with a certain control accuracy. This provides an experimental basis for a better study of in-vehicle pressure variations under the excitation of tunnel pressure waves, as well as the pressure comfort inside the carriage.
