Le résumé fourni par la source
In the United States, 18 000 110 people were living with cancer on January 1, 2022, including 9 772 076 women and 8 228 034 men. These cancer survivors comprised 5.4% of the US population. The 5 cancer sites with the highest prevalence were female breast with 4 091 181 survivors followed by prostate with 3 518 978 survivors (Figure 1). Among nonsex-specific cancer sites, melanoma of the skin had 1 504 676 survivors, colon and rectum had 1 416 499 survivors, and thyroid had 1 016 930 survivors. Prevalence was calculated using the first invasive tumor diagnosed during the previous 30 years. US 2022 cancer prevalence estimates are based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results–12 registries excluding the Alaska Native Tumor Registry. Population estimates are based on the average of 2021 and 2022 population estimates from the US Bureau of the Census.
