Infectious diseases like acne, caused by bacteria and fungi, are prevalent worldwide. The rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria has prompted the search for natural alternatives. The purpose of this research was to prepare an anti-acne serum formulation containing extracts of Scrophularia striata and Rosemary plants and investigate its antimicrobial and antioxidant effects. The desired plants were collected, and the extraction was performed using the maceration method. The formulation, designed for topical use, contained Scrophularia striata and rosemary extracts due to their known biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The serum formulation for topical use was made according to the set standard, the color and appearance of the formulation were visually checked and its pH was measured. To investigate the antimicrobial activity, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 33591, Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228, and Candida albicans PTCC 2750 were used. For this purpose, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC), and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were measured. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 26. The antioxidant effect of rosemary extract in inhibiting DPPH was more than that of Striata scrophularia extract, and with increasing the concentration and percentage of rosemary extract in the formulation, a slight increase in its antioxidant properties was seen. The MIC of formulated serum with 1.5 % and 3 % rosemary extract was 0.75 and 1.5 mg/mL and with 5 % and 10 % Striata scrophularia extract was 25 and 50 mg/mL, respectively. The MBC of formulated serum with 1.5 % and 3.5 % rosemary extract was 0.75 and 1.5 mg/mL, respectively. Also, with 5 %, and 10 % Striata scrophularia extract was 25 and 50 mg/mL respectively. The formulation of anti-acne serum containing the extracts of Striata scrophularia , and rosemary plants studied in this research can be used as a new formulation in the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections Biological Effect of Anti-Acne Serum Containing Extracts of Striata Scrophularia and Rosemary .
