Cellulose‐Based Nanocomposites Loaded with Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles for Enhanced Wound Healing Applications

Abstract This review article offers an in‐depth study of cellulose‐based nanocomposites infused with zinc oxide nanoparticles for improved wound healing applications. Cellulose‐based nanocomposites have emerged as viable materials for wound healing due to their biocompatibility, environmental safety, as well mechanical strength. The integration of ZnO NPs into these nanocomposites has shown a synergistic enhancement of their wound healing attributes, including antibacterial efficacy, tissue regeneration, and inflammation mitigation. The primary applications of these materials in wound care, including chronic wound treatment and tissue engineering, are emphasized. However, its promise, problems persist, including scalability, biocompatibility, and regulatory concerns. Future research possibilities, including the development of innovative synthesis techniques and the investigation of these materials in other biological applications, are also addressed. This study seeks to elucidate the present status of cellulose‐based nanocomposites infused with ZnO NPs for wound healing applications and their prospective impact on revolutionizing wound care.
