A Case Series of Constrictive Pericarditis with Severe Pulmonary Hypertension Diagnosed by Cardiac Catheterisation

Abstract Constrictive pericarditis (CP) is a rare condition characterized by pericardial thickening and fibrosis, which compromises diastolic cardiac filling. Significantly elevated pulmonary arterial pressure is a diagnostic criterion that helps rule out CP, distinguishing it from restrictive cardiomyopathy. The coexistence of CP with severe pulmonary hypertension (PH) is exceptionally rare and poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. This study presents a case series of three patients with CP complicated by severe PH confirmed during cardiac catheterization. By documenting these cases, the article aims to enhance the understanding of this uncommon combination and underscore the importance of individualized, collaborative care in achieving optimal outcomes.
