Main Resonances and Width of RF Power Spectra of Chaotic Output from a Semiconductor Laser System Explained
Résumé fourni par la source
Broad-rf-bandwidth chaotic output from semiconductor-laser-based systems has been researched and developed for several decades. Researchers have sought to increase the RF bandwidth and RF power, and to flatten the variations in RF power across the full bandwidth achieved. The specific system we report is the semiconductor laser with delayed optical feedback (SLDOF) system. The results also are of general interest for the understanding of a range of nonlinear SL based systems. Study of the SLDOF system has been foundational through fundamental theoretical modeling, numerical simulation, and experimental study (e.g. [1]–[3]). Additionally, applications in secure communication, random number generation, key distribution, LIDAR and photonics-based reservoir computing have driven its research and development for technological applications. Chaotic output is just one of the dynamical outputs that can be obtained from this system by tailoring and varying the operating parameters.
