Nanomedicine
Le résumé fourni par la source
Alzheimer&s;s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder marked by cognitive decline and memory loss. Traditional therapeutic approaches have shown limited success, necessitating innovative strategies. Nanomedicine, the application of nanotechnology in medicine, presents a promising avenue for managing AD. This emerging field leverages nanoparticles to improve drug delivery, enhance diagnostic capabilities, and facilitate targeted therapy. Nanoparticles, including liposomes, dendrimers, polymeric nanoparticles, and metallic nanoparticles, offer unique advantages due to their small size, large surface area, and ability to cross the blood–brain barrier (BBB). Recent advancements in nanomedicine have focused on developing nanoparticles for amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaque targeting, tau protein aggregation inhibition, and neuroinflammation reduction. Functionalized nanoparticles can selectively bind to Aβ plaques, promoting their clearance and reducing amyloid burden. Similarly, tau-targeted nanoparticles can interfere with tau aggregation, potentially mitigating tauopathies. Nanomedicine also holds promise for early diagnosis and monitoring of AD progression. Nanoparticles conjugated with imaging agents enable high-resolution imaging of amyloid plaques and tau tangles, facilitating early detection and longitudinal studies of disease progression. Nanomedicine offers a multifaceted approach to managing AD by improving drug delivery, enhancing therapeutic targeting, and enabling early diagnosis. Continued research and development in this field hold significant potential for advancing AD treatment and improving patient outcomes.
