On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our distinct honor and privilege to extend a warm invitation to the 17th Asia Pacific Stroke Conference (APSC2025), which will take place from 13 to 15 September 2025 at the Kobe Campus of Hyogo Medical University, in the picturesque and culturally rich city of Kobe, Japan. This prestigious conference is jointly hosted by the Asia Pacific Stroke Organization (APSO) and the Japan Stroke Society and will be convened under the overarching theme: “Advancing Stroke Care: Global and Local Challenges.” The conference aspires to serve as a premier forum for the dissemination of state-of-the-art developments in stroke care, while fostering critical discussions on region-specific challenges that significantly impact clinical practice across diverse healthcare settings.Stroke continues to constitute one of the leading causes of mortality and disability worldwide, with its burden felt most acutely in the Asia Pacific region, home to over 60% of the global population [1]. Countries in economic transition face rising rates of non-communicable diseases like stroke, worsened by unequal healthcare resources and infrastructure [2]. In response to these pressing challenges, the APSO was established in 2009 through the merger of the Asian Stroke Forum and the Asia Pacific Stroke Association [3]. Since its inception, APSO has grown to include 20 member societies from across the region, all dedicated to advancing stroke education, research, and clinical practice through collaborative efforts.The APSC represents the flagship annual scientific gathering of APSO. Building upon the resounding success of the 2012 conference held in Japan, we are deeply honored to once again host this distinguished event on Japanese soil. The APSC2025 scientific program will bring together globally renowned experts who will share cutting-edge insights and breakthroughs in stroke care. In parallel, the conference will provide an invaluable platform to deliberate on the unique challenges faced by countries within the Asia Pacific region, with the aim of fostering innovative solutions and promoting best practices in stroke management.A particular emphasis of APSC2025 will be placed on the practical translation of knowledge into clinical care, as well as on fostering the next generation of stroke specialists through high-caliber presentations and a rich array of symposiums. Several key topics are expected to draw significant attention, including debates on distal artery thrombectomy, controversies in stroke thrombectomy, thrombolysis with tenecteplase, intracranial atherosclerosis, artificial intelligence in stroke care, VasCog Asia collaboration, vascular malformation, and cerebral aneurysm treatment.A notable addition to this year’s program is the incorporation of a neurosurgical perspective within the APSC. In particular, the pre-congress workshops will now feature dedicated sessions on stroke treatment and vascular anatomy, complementing the established neurosonology workshop. Furthermore, the program will offer hands-on training courses in both bypass surgery and endovascular procedures. These expanded offerings are designed to deliver valuable and practical learning opportunities, carefully curated to meet the diverse needs and interests of our participants.To ensure broad accessibility and maximize participation, APSC2025 will be conducted in a hybrid format, blending in-person sessions with virtual components. This approach acknowledges the varying circumstances of participants, particularly younger healthcare professionals who may face constraints in attending onsite. The venue, Hyogo Medical University’s Kobe Campus, is strategically situated on Port Island with excellent connectivity to Kansai International Airport and Kobe Airport. We warmly encourage all attendees to take advantage of the opportunity to explore Kobe’s scenic landscapes, distinguished culinary offerings, and rich cultural heritage.Furthermore, APSC2025 coincides with the 2025 World Expo in nearby Osaka, affording additional opportunities for international engagement. Given that September in Japan can remain warm and coincides with the typhoon season, we recommend that participants dress in light, casual attire and that all speakers prepare pre-recorded presentations to ensure the continuity of the scientific program in the event of unforeseen disruptions.We are also most pleased to announce that Karger Publishers will serve as the principal sponsor of APSC2025. All accepted abstracts will be published electronically in Cerebrovascular Diseases, the esteemed international journal of cerebrovascular medicine published by Karger [4]. This will not only enhance the visibility of presented research but also contribute to the ongoing advancement of global stroke knowledge.The APSC2025 Organizing Committee, with the invaluable support of APSO, the Japan Stroke Society, and Hyogo Medical University, is firmly committed to delivering a conference of the highest academic and organizational excellence.
