Le résumé fourni par la source
Introduction Atractylocarpus Mitt. is a moss genus comprising 10 species, most of which occur in montane tropical regions, although there are two northern temperate representatives. A recent collection of the genus from Tahiti, French Polynesia, could not be assigned to any of the known species and is here described as new. Methods Specimens collected using standard bryological field techniques were rehydrated in the laboratory, dissected, and mounted in Hoyer’s solution. Observations and measurements were made using standard stereo and compound microscopy.Key results and conclusions Atractylocarpus meyeri Hedd., Ah-Peng & N. Wilding is a new species that is currently known only from the type locality on Mount ‘Orohena, Tahiti, where it occurred as an epiphyte in wet cloud forest near the summit. It is distinguished from all other members of the genus by the combination of relatively large plants with stiff, erect to patent leaves with elongate strongly porose basal cells and narrow, thick-walled upper cells, sporophytes with short-cylindrical to ovoid capsules with elongate exothecial cells, and the peristome split only to 50%–70% of its length.
