Nano-Bioplastics: Characterization and Medical Applications
Le résumé fourni par la source
Due to their wide range of biomedical and biotechnological applications, bio-nanocomposites fabricated using a combination of biopolymers and different nanostructured inorganic/organic functional fillers have been widely studied. Nanostructured fillers are crucial in fabricating bio-composite materials because they give the composites a variety of required capabilities. The most researched functional nanofillers include cellulose nanofibers, hydroxyapatite, layered double hydroxides, silica nanoparticles, and polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes. Even though these materials have been widely studied, polymer manufacturers are only beginning to develop these technologies for use in the marketplace. Notwithstanding the environmental advantages, there are undisputed advantages from the point of view of packing performance and cost savings that make developing these new materials worthwhile.
