EVIDÊNCIAS ADICIONAIS DE VALIDADE DA SHORT ALMOST PERFECT SCALE COM ESTUDANTES UNIVERSITÁRIOS DO BRASIL
Résumé fourni par la source
The present study aimed to gather additional validity evidences for the Short Almost Perfect Scale (S-APS) in a sample of university students. 517 students from different Brazilian states participated (Mage = 21.38; ranging from 18 to 52 years). Most were women (63.2%), from public institutions (64.2%), and psychology undergraduates (25.8%). The instruments applied were: S-APS, Single-Item Self-Esteem Scale, Cognitive Test Anxiety Scale, Tuckman Procrastination Scale, and a sociodemographic questionnaire. The results, through confirmatory factor analysis, supported the bifactorial structure of the S-APS. Evidences of convergent, discriminant, and external meansure-related validity was found. Adaptive perfectionism (standards) was positively related to self-esteem and negatively related to cognitive test anxiety and academic procrastination. Maladaptive perfectionism (discrepancy) was negatively related to self-esteem and positively related to cognitive test anxiety and academic procrastination. It was concluded that the S-APS shows good psychometric properties and can be useful for assessing perfectionism and its correlates among Brazilian university students.
