Taking into account the importance and relevance of the digitalization of the fuel and energy complex, this article examines the legal framework governing digital transformation in the fuel and energy complex as it pertains to artificial intelligence, as well as reviews RPA as an AI-based technology, its varieties and liability aspects. The author provides a legal analysis of the sources of legal regulation of the use of artificial intelligence in Russia, examines the legal aspects of liability for using RPA, and formulates proposals to improve legal regulation. One of the main challenges of RPA use is the issue of legal liability for actions taken while using it. Unattended RPA opens up new horizons for business, but it also entails major legal and ethical challenges. In order to ensure the safe and ethical use of automated systems, new legal mechanisms must be developed to regulate all stages of working with such systems, from development and implementation to use and dispute resolution. It is essential to adapt the legislation to new technologies, ensuring the protection of both users and organizations using RPA, while mitigating potential legal risks
