Le résumé fourni par la source

A four-dimensional (4-D) antenna array with hemispherical spatial coverage is proposed for seamless connectivity over a wide area. The antenna array is composed of 4 sequentially rotated folded monopole elements, each connected to a high-speed RF switch and arranged in a circular array topology. The proposed design jointly shapes the radiation pattern and the harmonic power distribution of the antenna. As a result, broadside and omnidirectional radiations are simultaneously generated. By optimizing the time sequence, simultaneous coverage over the entire upper half space is achieved. Unlike conventional antennas in which a portion of the hemisphere is covered at each beam state, the proposed 4-D antenna array allows the instantaneous coverage over the entire hemisphere. Thanks to the inherent advantages of the 4-D antenna array, the proposed 4-D antenna array is with a low cost without complex hardware implementation. The antenna prototype is fabricated and measured with a good agreement between the simulated and the experimental results, validating the hemispherical coverage functionality of the proposed 4-D antenna array.
