Highly Concentrated Luminescence from Rare Earth Nanoparticles
Le résumé fourni par la source
Improve the luminescence from rare earth nanoparticles is vital for potential applications in ultrasentive detection, data storage, bio-sensing and imaging. To assembly nanoparticles to form a cavity is supposed to be a step for miniaturization potential divides. But it still remains challenges, especially optical losses increase with reduced resonant cavity sizes, and higher pump power is required to reach the lasing thresholds. Here, we make use of the whispering galley mode, composed of upconversion nanoparticles and coupled with polymer microcavities to achieve concentrated luminescence under a relatively low excitation fluences. The continuous-wave stimulated upconverted luminescence, with a Q factor on the order of 103, remained stable for more than 6 h. In addition, the stimulated upconverted luminescence spanning from visible to near-infrared range, are obtained with various rare earth nanoparticles, including photon avalanche nanoparticles, coupled polymer microcavities. With the consideration of free spectral range and ruler effect of coupled cavities, single mode emission was studied.
