The centrifugal compressor is a critical component in proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) systems for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), as it ensures an adequate supply of compressed air to the fuel cell stack. However, the compressor's performance is significantly influenced by altitude-dependent environmental factors such as air density, pressure, and temperature. This study established a centrifugal compressor model that considered losses at the impeller and vaneless diffuser, and investigated the operational characteristics of the centrifugal compressor at different altitudes. The interior-point optimization method is used to identify some key parameters in the air compressor model. The result shows that the proposed model has a good agreement with the experimental data, which provide valuable insights into optimizing compressor design and control strategies for PEMFC systems in high-altitude UAV applications.
