Résumé fourni par la source

This paper summarizes data from a national survey of recently graduated school psychologists (N = 208) who provided information about the field supervision they received as interns. Respondents rated the extent to which their field supervisors demonstrated behaviors aligned with best practices and central goals of supervision established by the National Association of School Psychologists and leaders in the field. Overall, supervisees reported positive ratings of the supervision they received as interns. There was not a significant relationship between the supervision received and supervisor years of experience, or between similarity of supervisee-supervisor racial/ethnic background. However, supervisees from racially or ethnically minoritized backgrounds were less likely to report a strong working relationship with their supervisors compared to White, non-Hispanic or Latino supervisees. In addition, noteworthy regional differences were found in terms of internship salary and supervision practices. Implications of these findings are discussed, as well as potential directions for future research.Impact StatementFindings from this study fill a gap in the research related to quality of supervision experienced by school psychology interns. Supervisees reported largely favorable perceptions of the supervision they received, although interns from racially or ethnically minoritized backgrounds were less likely to report strong working relationships with supervisors compared to White, non-Hispanic or Latino supervisees. Significant regional differences in salary and supervision practices were found.
