Flexible Web-Based Method to Support 1st Grade Math Learning for Vietnamese Children

Mathematical ability is increasingly focused on and even considered the top criterion for predicting the development of children's later skills, such as reading, writing, attention and social and emotional abilities. Mastering mathematical skills is considered a fundamental goal for children's development. However, the fact that many children are still limited in this essential skill can affect the speed and ability of children to develop comprehensively, especially right from the first time they approach this science. Therefore, this study has proposed a method to support learning math for grade 1 smartly and scientifically on a web platform. That is a method to supplement math skills for grade 1 by practising the requirements of the assigned tasks in a way appropriate to the learner's capacity and needs, which has been assessed and monitored regularly through how students perform previous tasks. This method was tested on a group of children, and the results showed the effectiveness of the proposed method in helping first-grade children improve their calculation skills and, at the same time, stimulate their interest in this science subject.
