Le résumé fourni par la source
Fungal infections account for approximately 1.6 million deaths annually, with Candida species being the principal causative agent (WHO report). The increasing prevalence of fungal infections and resistance to current treatments necessitates the identification of new antifungal drug targets. Guanosine triphosphate cyclohydrolase I (GCH1) is the rate-limiting enzyme in the tetrahydrofolate biosynthesis pathway and is a promising drug target due to its essential role in fungal DNA replication and cell survival.
