Peak-shaving has been recognized as an important measure to ensure the safe and stable operation of power systems. This paper innovatively investigates the application of combined gas-fired power generation systems and cascaded hydroelectric systems (named as combined gas-hydro power systems, CGHPS) in the peak-shaving problem, and designs a collaborative peak-shaving framework for the CGHPS, in which the gas-fired power generation system undertakes deep peak-shaving task. In technical, to motivate the participation of gas-fired power generation system in the deep peak-shaving process, a pricing scheme is proposed to determine the compensation price. Based on this, a collaborative peak-shaving model of CGHPS is formulated with the objective of maximizing the expected net-profits. Numerical simulations are conducted by a real case study in Sichuan province in China, and the results show that the proposed framework can realize good effect in both peak-shaving performance and economics.
