Le résumé fourni par la source
The recent development of attosecond x-ray free-electron lasers has opened a new chapter for attosecond science. Attosecond XFELs have a peak brightness that surpasses table-top harmonics sources by more than seven orders of magnitude and enable new applications in non-linear x-ray spectroscopy and imaging. Here we report the generation of single-spike hard x-ray pulses with an average bandwidth of 30 eV and a pulse energy of tens of uJ. We also report on self-seeding studies with the attosecond pulses. Simulations indicate the pulses are as short as 150 as. We will present our recent experimental results and discuss future plans for time-domain attosecond measurements with hard x-ray pulses at the LCLS and LCLS-II HE facilities.
