Introduction: With the deep integration of digital technology and cultural tourism, digital cultural travel experience, as a new way of leisure, has gradually attracted attention. Addictive diseases have a serious impact on the physical and mental health and social function of patients. Traditional rehabilitation therapy mainly relies on drug therapy and psychological intervention, but the rehabilitation process is long and easy to relapse. In recent years, the exploration of non-drug assisted intervention has become a research hotspot. This study aims to explore the auxiliary effect of digital travel experience on the rehabilitation of addictive diseases, and provide new ideas and methods for rehabilitation treatment. Methods: The study subjects were 150 patients with addictive diseases in a rehabilitation center, between the ages of 20 and 50, and half men and half women. All participants were in the rehabilitation phase. Addiction Severity Scale (ASIS) and Mental Health Scale (MHI) were used to assess the degree of addiction and mental health of patients. The intervention group included a VR cultural travel experience and an online cultural course, and the patients were reassessed for addiction and mental health after a period of time. Results: In the study, the VR cultural travel experience group and the online cultural course group showed significant differences in the severity of addiction and mental health scores (P<0.001), indicating that the intervention has a significant auxiliary effect on the rehabilitation of addictive diseases. At the same time, the effect of VR cultural travel experience group was more significant than that of online cultural course group. Conclusion: Studies have shown that digital travel experience, as a non-drug-assisted intervention, can effectively alleviate the degree of addiction of patients with addictive diseases, improve their mental health level, and enhance the effect of rehabilitation treatment. Future studies may further explore the application effect and mechanism of digital travel experience in different addiction types and recovery stages. It is recommended that rehabilitation centers incorporate digital cultural travel experience into rehabilitation treatment programs to provide patients with more diversified and personalized rehabilitation support.
