Economic analysis of artificial intelligence use and related technologies in healthcare: systematic review protocol

The financial sustainability of healthcare services has been a challenge, especially for universal models such as the Brazilian Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde [SUS]). In this context, various information technologies have emerged promising service optimization and gains in scale. However, there is no systematization regarding the economic analysis of these technologies in primary or secondary care. The aim of this future systematic review is to carry out an economic analysis of actions that use artificial intelligence and programming languages in primary and secondary healthcare. This is a systematic review protocol developed in accordance with the standards of the Joanna Briggs Institute. The search for articles was based on previously defined keywords. The databases defined for collection were: Pubmed, Scielo, Virtual Health Library (BVS), EBSCO, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, CEA Registry and Cochrane. The articles will be analyzed blindly in a double-checking process and, eventual discrepancies will be sent to a third reviewer. The excluded articles will be presented in flowchart format, along with the reason for their exclusion, while the included articles will have their results presented in a narrative synthesis. The protocol was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42024593841).
