Le résumé fourni par la source

The use of methylphenidate and lisdexamfetamine, psychostimulants that act on the central nervous system and are primarily indicated for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), has increased among medical students, aiming to improve academic performance. However, this unprescribed use may be associated with negative impacts on mental health, especially among foreign students, who face family estrangement. It is essential to investigate the incidence and reasons for the use of methylphenidate and lisdexamfetamine by medical students in Alto Paraná (CDE), Paraguay. This study aims to study the magnitude and determining factors of methylphenidate and lisdexamfetamine use by medical students in Alto Paraná (CDE), aiming to improve their academic performance, analyzing its relationship with academic overload, family estrangement, and the impacts on mental health. To this end, it is necessary to analyze the prevalence of psychostimulant use among medical students and their main motivations for their use. To examine the relationship between the use of these substances and psychosocial factors such as academic stress, study overload, and family separation. A cross-sectional, quantitative, and descriptive study was then conducted, providing a bibliographic review and exhaustive field research, from which a mixed, descriptive, exploratory, explanatory, and applied research was developed. An analysis will be provided with the theoretical foundations and empirical data rigorously collected in the research context. The theoretical basis for the research was based on databases such as Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Biblioteca Virtual en Salud (BVS), Pubmed Unique Identifier (pubmed), as well as specialized journals on the subject.
