The Role of Guidance and Counselling Services at Secondary School Level at District Bagh Azad Kashmir

This study investigate the role of guidance and counselling services at secondary school level in district Bagh Azad Jammu and Kashmir with the following objective; To identify ,introducing and compare the role of guidance and counselling services in Secondary schools in AJK. It is a descriptive study design. The entire public and private secondary level school teacher were considered as the population of the present study. There were 1486 secondary school teachers in district Bagh. A simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample. The sample size was selected by using Table of “krejcie and Morgan”. Three hundred teachers were selected as the sample. With the help of questionnaire containing 32 items the researcher collected data from sampled teachers. The data was analyzed with the help of SPSS-23.The collected data was tabulated and analyzed by using chi-square test. The collected data showed that the majority of the respondent agreed to the statement that guidance and counselling services was the part and parcel of education system. Results showed that guidance and counselling develop learner psychologically and emotionally to recognize individual strengths and challenges. Guidance and counselling programs are also held for self-monitoring of learners. Educational guidance and counselling is needed when students do not show satisfactory progress in study and it also help students to overcome their educational problems and to choose their professions. Further they confirmed that guidance and counselling services are helpful in creating interpersonal skills in students. However some of the challenges can also be overcome by implementation and supervision of educational guidance and counseling services.
