Among the various phagocytes, the specific role of neutrophils in M. tuberculosis (Mtb) infection is less well characterized. Aim of the study. To study the content, activity and metabolic processes of neutrophil leukocytes in patients with relapse of pulmonary tuberculosis. Materials and methods. The study included 110 patients, which included: a) a control group - 55 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and b) the base group - 55 patients with relapse of pulmonary tuberculosis. The phagocytic count, phagocytic index and NBT test of neutrophils were studied. Some metabolic parameters of neutrophils were studied: lactate dehydrogenase and acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase activity. Results and conclusions. In patients with relapse of pulmonary tuberculosis, an increase in the level of leukocytes and a decrease in the content of segmented and nonsegmented leukocytes, a decrease in the activity of phagocytosis, a decrease in the intensity of phagocytosis and a decrease in the digestive capacity of leukocytes were noted. A decrease in the activity of acid phosphatase and a tendency to a decrease in the activity of alkaline phosphatase were determined, which increased over time. On the contrary, the activity of lactate dehydrogenase was increased upon admission and decreased in dynamics.
