Taking the energy-saving winch-type heave compensation system suitable for actual working conditions as the application object, a practical method for predicting the heave motion speed of a floating platform is studied. With the goal of improving the compensation accuracy of the compensation system, the support vector regression(SVR) model is used to predict the speed and the prediction results are used for compensation control. Firstly, the ITTC dual-parameter spectrum is used to obtain the wave spectrum under different levels of sea conditions, and according to the transmission relationship between the floating platform and the waves, the displacement and velocity data of the heave motion of the waves and the floating platform under different levels of sea conditions are simulated; secondly, the Library for Support Vector Machines(LIBSVM) toolbox are used to predict the heave motion speed of the floating platform in the next prediction cycle; finally, a combined simulation model of the energy-saving winch-type heave compensation system suitable for actual working conditions is built. The simulation results show that the method of using platform speed prediction for disturbance compensation control can improve the compensation accuracy.
