Unmanned aerial vehicle technology is rapidly finding its application in various fields ranging from logistics, agriculture, and disaster management. In the field of disaster management, the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a revolutionary approach to mitigate the various challenges presented by different catastrophic events. The northern Himalayan states of India are prone to natural disasters like flash flooding, landslides, cloud bursts, forest wildfires, and earthquakes, which result in casualties and the deterioration of transportation routes, hence making the rescue operation challenging and imperative for ensuring the safety and recovery of affected communities. This study introduces the critical role that can be played by AI technologies integrated with drones in enhancing the efficiency, accuracy, and adaptability of disaster response operations.
