Forensic Genealogy
Résumé fourni par la source
Sherlock Holmes said, “It has long been an axiom of mine that the little things are infinitely the most important”, but never imagined that such a little thing, the DNA molecule, could become perhaps the most powerful single tool in the multifaceted fight against crime. Forensic genealogy is an emerging field that combines traditional genealogical methods with advanced forensic science, particularly in DNA analysis, to help solve cold cases, identify unknown individuals, and reunite families. It offers a unique interdisciplinary approach by using genetic information to trace family lineages and connect it to criminal investigations. As a powerful tool in modern forensics, it has garnered increasing attention, particularly following its role in solving high-profile cases such as that of the Golden State Killer in 2018.
