This study describes the development and validation of the Social Media Relevance Scale for the LGBTQ+ Community (SMRS-LGBTQ+). A 13-item pool was tested in an LGBTQ+ sample (N = 102) using an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). The SMRS-LGBTQ+ factor structure (Confirmatory Factor analysis-CFA) and reliability were further examined in another sample (N = 254). SMRS-LGBTQ+ EFA results suggested a single-factor structure, confirmed through CFA. Psychometric analyses showed good reliability and supported validity. Overall, the SMRS-LGBTQ+ showed to be a valid and reliable measure and may be a helpful tool for counselors working with LGBTQ+ individuals, researchers, and LGBTQ+ organizations.
