Calibrating Coastal Urban Vulnerabilities and Resilience through Modeling
Le résumé fourni par la source
This chapter provides a concise overview of the overall consequences of climate change and explores the cumulative repercussions of storm surge, hurricanes, and rising sea levels. The authors argue for regional climate assessments and governance to tackle the urgent challenges faced by coastal municipalities, given that climate impacts and market responses will continue to erode municipal revenues, affecting housing markets, gentrification, and population displacement. The authors then examine established calibrated models that consider factors associated with coastal flood susceptibility to estimate potential infrastructural damages and economic losses within the State. These deliberations present a foundation for evaluating the vulnerability of coastal areas through modeling, as well as for flood mitigation and various other objectives.
