Reduced left ventricular ejection fraction remains the key determinant in the evaluation for the risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD) and for primary prevention implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Myocardial fibrosis has gained increasing interest in SCD prediction, in the anticipation that it would enable more accurate SCD risk stratification among subjects with and without heart failure.
