A Case Report on the Improvement of Palpitations Caused by Premature Ventricular Complexes Identified via 24-Hour Holter Monitoring Through Comprehensive Korean Medicine Treatment

Objectives: This case report illustrates the effectiveness of traditional Korean medicine (TKM) in managing a patient with mild premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) and severe subjective symptoms.Case Presentation: A female patient in her early 50s presented with an acute exacerbation of palpitations, a symptom she had first experienced 20 years prior. A 48-hour Holter monitor recorded 6.12% PVCs. Over 2 months, the patient received TKM treatment consisting of weekly electroacupuncture, a 6-day course of Cheonwangbosim-dan consumption, and a 30-day course of Cheonggansoyo-san consumption. Following treatment, no significant arrhythmias were detected on a 72-hour Holter monitor, and the patient reported complete resolution of symptoms. Symptom improvement was sustained over a 5-month follow-up period. No adverse effects were observed throughout the entire treatment and follow-up period.Conclusions: TKM may be an effective approach for managing mild PVCs with significant subjective symptoms, as supported by objective measures such as Holter monitoring.
