With the development of multi-variety, small-batch flexible manufacturing, pallet automation systems (PAS) have attracted increasing attention from many manufacturing enterprises. A critical challenge is the flexible job shop scheduling problem (FJSP) because resources are flexible and limited in the PAS. However, most existing studies on FJSP primarily focused on machines while overlooking other key resources such as pallets, fixtures, setup stations (SUs), and the loading and unloading time (LUT). This can result in scheduling plans that are not feasible in practice. To address this gap, this paper investigates a multiresource constrained flexible pallet automation system scheduling considering fixture-pallets and SUs, referred to as MRFPAS. To solve the problem, we propose a mixed-integer programming model that reflects real production scenarios. Additionally, we develop a new search algorithm based on critical paths and points (SACP). A case study is designed and executed to demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of this work. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of rationally allocating SUs is to reduce the makespan and improve the utilization rate of each SU. This study offers potential solutions for achieving fully automated resource scheduling in unmanned production.
