Effectiveness of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy on resilience of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder and symptoms reduction in children

Mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) reported lower levels of resilience and resilience than mothers of children with intellectual disabilities or typically developing children. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) training on resilience of mothers of autistic children and reducing autism symptoms in these children. The research method was a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test with a control group. The data collection method in this study is field-based and is obtained through a questionnaire and therapeutic intervention. Mothers were selected and randomly assigned to two control and experimental groups (28 mothers in the control group and 28 mothers in the experimental group). The findings of the study showed that there was a significant difference between the two control and experimental groups in the variables of psychological resilience and autism symptoms after MBCT training. Based on the research findings, cognitive therapy based on mindfulness has been shown to have a significant positive impact on resilience of mothers of children with ASD and symptoms reduction in children.
