Le résumé fourni par la source

In Brazil, congenital anomalies rank second in causes of infant deaths and can be associated with environmental and genetic factors, and maternal conditions. The study objective was to investigate the maternal risk profile associated with the development of children with congenital malformations in the state of Roraima. A total of 158 women attended at the Ambulatory of the Women's Health Reference Center and at the Follow-up Ambulatory of the Hospital Materno Infantil Nossa Senhora Nazareth, Boa Vista, RR, Brazil was selected. An epidemiological data sheet related to risk factors that women have in relation to bear children with congenital malformations was completed, including social, environmental, economic, and housing factors. The diagnosis of congenital malformation was performed using ultrasound and complementary exams. Fifty-nine participants (37.3%) had children diagnosed with congenital malformation and 62.7% (n=99) had children without congenital malformation. Mean age (p=0.0380), family income (p=0.0259), living in rural areas (p=0.0047; OR: 6.531; CI: 1.717-24.832), having the habit of incinerating household waste (p=0.0017; OR: 15.373; CI: 1.870-126.38), being nulliparous (p=0.0184; OR: 2.400; CI: 1.188-4.849), having experienced oligohydramnios in the current pregnancy (p=0.0010; OR: 9.898; CI: 2.086-46.959) were associated with the development of congenital malformations. Thus, young nulliparous women, with an income equal to or less than one minimum wage, living in rural areas, with the habit of incinerating household waste and who experienced oligohydramnios during pregnancy, characterize the maternal risk profile associated to the development of children with congenital malformations in the state of Roraima.
