Le résumé fourni par la source
A series of conditions known as cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) affect the arteries, veins, and capillaries as well as the heart (cardio). The main CVDs are heart failure, stroke, coronary artery diseases (CAD), hypertension, and arthritis, having a family history of heart disease, smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes are some of the risk factors that increase the likelihood of developing CVD. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is estimated to have caused 17.3 million deaths worldwide in 2008, accounting for around 30% of all fatalities. It is estimated that in 2013, one million deaths worldwide and 11.3% of all deaths in Africa were caused by cardiovascular disease (CVD). This number only includes deaths that occurred in Sub-Saharan Africa. Although there are medications to treat cardiovascular diseases, there are many drawbacks, these include drugs that can cause renal failure, muscular abnormalities, rhabdomyolysis, and haemorrhage with prolonged use, which can be fatal. There is a need for an alternative treatment, especially since research has shown that many medicinal plants, including mushrooms, have cardio-protective properties due to their distinct nutritional makeup and bioactive substances. The diverse types of medicinal mushrooms have produced about 130 different therapeutic effects, including anticancer, antiviral, cardioprotective, antioxidant, radical scavenging, and immunomodulatory properties. The cardioprotective effects of medicinal mushrooms are the main described in this chapter.
