With the increasing popularity of green fuel and the rapid growth of the marine economy, the maintenance of ship main engines, especially cylinder liners, has become a crucial issue. In this paper, we introduce a novel continuous spiral line laser scanning infrared non-destructive testing (Cslls Ir NDT) method and device for detecting scratch defects on the working surface of ship engine cylinder liners, aiming to achieve efficient and automated detection without disassembling the engine. Through numerical simulations of line laser scanning infrared NDT, we have effectively detected scratches with widths ranging from 0.05 to 1 mm and depths from 0.1 to 1.5 mm. The scanning path of the Cslls IR NDT was analysed, and the scanning images were simulated. Subsequently, the spatial reconstruction and optimisation of the scanning images were completed using pseudo-static matrix reconstruction (PSMR) and Fourier series fitting, and feature image extraction algorithms were applied to extract the feature image. Ultimately, the 3D infrared thermography visualisation of the cylinder liner was achieved through cylindrical surface mapping. The automatic detection method and device proposed in this paper provide valuable theoretical support and reference for the subsequent maintenance and repair of cylinder liners and other key tubular components.
