Abstract An 8‐year‐old, female, spayed bloodhound mix was presented for a 9‐day history of right‐sided Horner's syndrome. Thoracic computed tomography revealed a right‐sided, 4.1 × 2.2 cm, round, soft tissue opacity located in the cranial aspect of the dorsal mediastinum ventral to the T2–T3 vertebrae. Due to the location of the tumour, a novel approach with the patient in sternal recumbency was performed. The mass was highly vascular, but was successfully removed through this technique and the patient recovered uneventfully. The patient was started on chemotherapy for a total of 13 months postoperatively, and was euthanased for unrelated reasons 24 months after surgery.
