Le résumé fourni par la source
Patients with Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) are at increased risk for life-threatening arrhythmias. The ionic current abnormalities characteristic of LQTS lead to an enhancement in the transmural dispersion of the repolarization process in the myocardium, setting the stage for life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias.1 Although implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) are occasionally used to prevent sudden cardiac death in these patients, device-related factors can sometimes paradoxically have a pro-arrhythmic effect.
